Dilip Tirkey Takes Legal Action Against Hockey India Officials

New Delhi, September 26: Dilip Tirkey, the president of Hockey India and a former captain of the national team, has lodged a police complaint with the Delhi Police against four officials from the federation. The allegations include criminal breach of trust, theft, conspiracy, endangerment of life, and wrongful abandonment.

In a complaint dated September 24, addressed to the Deputy Commissioner of Police in South Delhi, Tirkey has requested the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) under applicable laws and the prompt recovery of what he claims are stolen assets and documents.

The individuals named in the complaint include R.K. Srivastava, the former Director General of Hockey India, along with Finance Manager Subodh Kumar, Director Bhushan Kumar, and driver Harminder Singh.

Tirkey alleges that an official vehicle assigned to him during his visit to New Delhi on September 22 was recalled, leaving behind his personal items, including essential medicines. He is seeking their immediate return.

The complaint states, “The complainant seeks immediate registration of an FIR under relevant provisions for criminal breach of trust, theft, criminal conspiracy, endangerment of life, and wrongful abandonment, and requests for immediate recovery of stolen assets and documents.”

This complaint has been submitted to the DCP of South Delhi. While the Delhi Police has acknowledged receipt of the complaint, there has been no confirmation regarding the registration of an FIR at this time.

Tirkey's complaint arises amid ongoing internal conflicts within Hockey India involving senior officials. However, the focus of the police complaint is primarily on the alleged incident concerning the official vehicle and the recovery of Tirkey's belongings.

Previously, Tirkey had taken disciplinary action against Srivastava, including revoking his powers as Director General and issuing a show-cause notice, following administrative disagreements within the federation.

The latest complaint implicates Srivastava, Kumar, Bhushan, and Harminder in relation to Tirkey's allegations. The validity of these claims is yet to be determined, and any further actions will depend on the Delhi Police's response and subsequent proceedings.

As Hockey India gears up for a demanding international schedule, the federation's administration continues to grapple with internal disputes among its senior officials.
