Heather Knight Ruled Out of Upcoming Matches Due to Hamstring Injury

London [UK], May 29: Former England captain Heather Knight has sustained a serious tendon injury to her right hamstring, leading to her exclusion from the upcoming home international matches and The Hundred in 2025, as confirmed by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).

The injury occurred while Knight was batting in the final T20I against the West Indies, and the team is currently awaiting scan results to assess her availability for the forthcoming 50-over matches.

The 34-year-old right-handed batter will collaborate with the medical team of England Women to facilitate her recovery.

While a specific return date is not yet established, the ECB expressed hope that Knight will be fit for selection for the ICC Women’s World Cup scheduled for September 2025.

In response to Knight's injury, all-rounder Alice Capsey has been included in the 16-player squad for the series against the West Indies, which kicks off in Derby on May 30.

Capsey, who participated in all three T20I matches, managed only four runs and did not bowl during those games.

Additionally, pacer Lauren Filer has been added to the ODI squad after recovering from a knee injury, marking her return since her last appearance against Australia earlier this year. She is expected to play a crucial role in the upcoming matches against the West Indies, serving as vital preparation for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup in India.
