Haryana Government Establishes New Committees to Enhance Sports Coordination
Introduction of State Sports Committees
In a significant move to foster better collaboration among various departments dedicated to sports promotion, the Haryana government has established a State Sports Administrative Committee, led by the Chief Secretary, along with a State Sports Executive Committee, overseen by the Administrative Secretary of the Sports Department.
This marks the inaugural formation of such committees in Haryana, integrating multiple departments into the sports governance framework.
Goals of the Administrative Committee
According to the Principal Secretary of the Sports Department, these committees aim to create a structured approach to enhance coordination and governance within the sports sector.
The Administrative Secretary of the Sports Department will serve as the Member Secretary of the State Sports Administrative Committee, which will include Administrative Secretaries from various departments such as School Education, Higher Education, Urban Local Bodies, and Health, among others.
Committee Responsibilities
As outlined in the notification issued on June 26, the committee is tasked with providing a comprehensive vision, policy guidance, and strategic leadership for sports development in Haryana. It will ensure effective collaboration among all involved departments.
Additionally, the committee will oversee state policies related to talent development, coaching standards, and athlete pathways.
State Sports Executive Committee Overview
The State Sports Executive Committee will consist of department heads from Education, Development and Panchayats, Youth Empowerment, and Health, among others. This committee will act as the operational arm of the Administrative Committee.
It will be responsible for creating and executing annual and quarterly action plans for the implementation of approved sports policies and programs across various departments.
Coordination and Infrastructure Management
This committee will also manage the organization of tournaments, training camps, and mass participation events, ensuring the effective execution of the Sports Calendar across departments.
Meetings will be held quarterly, with proceedings submitted to the Chief Secretary, who also chairs the Administrative Committee.
Digital Platform for Sports Management
To streamline operations, the Sports Department will launch a State Sports Portal, serving as a central digital hub. All departments will be required to upload information regarding sports assets, infrastructure, and achievements.
Furthermore, regular safety inspections of sports facilities will be mandated, with safety certificates uploaded to the portal every six months.
