Haryana's Golden Performance at Commonwealth Games

In a recent statement, Haryana's Sports Minister Gaurav Gautam praised the outstanding achievements of athletes from Haryana at the Commonwealth Games 2026, declaring their efforts have made the state 'golden'.

India wrapped up a remarkable campaign in Glasgow, securing a total of 39 medals, which included 13 gold, 17 silver, and nine bronze, placing fourth overall. Many athletes from Haryana, especially in boxing, contributed significantly to this success, with notable medalists like Preeti Pawar, Priya Ghangas, Sachin Siwach, Sharmila Dhankar, and Jaismine Lamboria.

Gaurav expressed pride in the athletes' accomplishments, stating that their performances have brought honor to the state and the nation. He noted that from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Haryana's Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, there is a shared sense of pride among all Indians. He also emphasized that Haryana is poised to become a hub for athletes in the future.

"This is a historic moment. The way Haryana's athletes have showcased India's tricolor globally fills the nation with pride. Everyone, from the Prime Minister to the citizens, is celebrating their success," Gaurav remarked.

He further added, "The remarkable achievements of our athletes have truly made Haryana 'golden'. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to them. In the future, Haryana will undoubtedly emerge as a powerhouse of talent; we are confident of this," he concluded.

India has officially embarked on its journey to host the 2030 Commonwealth Games in Amdavad, with the Commonwealth Games Flag being ceremonially handed over during a spectacular Closing Ceremony that celebrated the conclusion of Glasgow 2026 and looked forward to the historic centenary edition of the Games.
