Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], June 19: Fast bowler Harshit Rana has been included in the Indian team for the third and final One-Day International against Afghanistan, scheduled for Saturday at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced Rana's inclusion just a day prior to the match, confirming his readiness to join the squad.

As per the BCCI, Rana has successfully completed his rehabilitation at the BCCI Centre of Excellence (COE) and has now joined the ODI team in Chennai.

“The Men’s Selection Committee has added Harshit Rana to the India squad for the third and final IDFC First Bank ODI against Afghanistan. Rana, who has completed his rehabilitation at the BCCI Centre of Excellence (COE), has linked up with the ODI squad in Chennai,” the statement read.

The 24-year-old bowler is also set to participate in the upcoming T20I series in Ireland and England, where Shreyas Iyer will captain the T20I team.

Under the leadership of Shubman Gill, India has already secured the series by winning the first two matches and is now aiming for a clean sweep with a strong performance in Chennai.

India triumphed in the first ODI by seven wickets, which was shortened to 25 overs per side due to rain in Dharamshala. The second ODI saw the hosts winning by a significant margin of 170 runs, thanks to impressive centuries from Ishan Kishan and captain Shubman Gill.

Previously, India had a dominant victory in a one-off Test match against Afghanistan, winning by an innings and 300 runs within three days.
