Harsh Dubey Joins Indian Squad for Final ODI
Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], July 18: In a significant development, Harsh Dubey has been appointed as the replacement for Washington Sundar in the Indian team for the third and final ODI against England at Lord's. Sundar has been sidelined due to a right hamstring injury he incurred during the second ODI in Cardiff.
Further scans and consultations with specialists will be conducted to assess Sundar's injury and determine the appropriate treatment.
The Men's Selection Committee officially announced Harsh Dubey's inclusion as Sundar's substitute for the decisive match against England at Lord's, according to a statement from the BCCI.
Washington suffered a right hamstring injury during the second ODI at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff, which has ruled him out for the remainder of the series. The advisory noted that he will undergo scans and seek expert advice for further management of his condition.
Dubey's addition comes at a crucial time, with the three-match series currently tied at 1-1. England managed to equalize after their earlier defeat in Birmingham, setting the stage for a thrilling winner-takes-all showdown at the iconic Lord's.
India is striving for their first ODI victory at Lord's since 2004, and a win in this series decider would not only clinch the series but also conclude their tour on a high note.
India's revised squad for the third ODI includes: Shubman Gill (Captain), Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer (Vice-Captain), KL Rahul (WK), Ishan Kishan (WK), Axar Patel, Shivam Dube, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Prasidh Krishna, Arshdeep Singh, Gurnoor Brar, Prince Yadav, and Harsh Dubey.
