Harsh Dubey's Debut in ODI Cricket


Harsh Dubey has officially made his debut for the Indian cricket team, participating in the first ODI against Afghanistan at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) Stadium in Dharamshala on Saturday, June 13. This match, affected by rain, was shortened to 25 overs per side, and Harsh is one of two debutants, alongside Gurnoor Brar. Prior to this, Harsh had not represented India in any format but was included in both the Test and ODI squads. Although Manav Suthar was selected for the one-off Test and excelled, earning the Player of the Match award, Harsh seized his opportunity today with the absence of seasoned spinners Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel from the squad.

Originating from Vidarbha, Harsh gained recognition after leading his state to victory in the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy, where he achieved a remarkable feat of 69 wickets in just 10 matches, setting a record in the tournament's 92-year history. At 24 years old, he has made his List A and T20 debut for Vidarbha, followed by his first-class debut in December 2022. Throughout his career, he has participated in 27 first-class matches, claiming 133 wickets. In List A cricket, he has taken 31 wickets across 30 games, while in T20s, he has secured 34 wickets in 38 matches, showcasing an impressive economy rate of 4.71 in List A and 7.57 in T20 formats. Additionally, Harsh is a capable batsman, accumulating 1,096 runs in first-class cricket at an average of 26.65, including nine fifties, and 296 runs in List A at an average of 26.90. In 2025, he was signed by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) as an injury replacement for Ravichandran Smaran, earning ₹30 Lakhs. He played three matches for SRH last year, taking five wickets, and participated in eight games in 2026, claiming eight wickets. Following his outstanding performance in the Ranji Trophy, he has consistently been selected for India-A squads across various formats.
