Harnoor Pannu Aims for IPL Stardom After Strong Domestic Season
Harnoor Pannu Sets Sights on IPL Success
Following a successful domestic season with Punjab, opener Harnoor Pannu is now focused on making a mark in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL). The young talent, who previously had a short spell with Chandigarh, was selected by Punjab Kings last season but did not get the opportunity to play. This year, however, the stylish left-handed opener is determined to secure a spot in the playing XI and demonstrate his skills.
Pannu shared, "My preparation has been thorough and tailored. I had some excellent range-hitting sessions that significantly contributed to my game. Competing in the IPL is definitely on my bucket list."
Reflecting on his experience from last season, he noted, "Being on the bench was beneficial; I traveled with the team and learned from the legends in the dressing room. The on-field exposure was invaluable and helped me enhance my performance in the domestic circuit."
At just 23, Pannu made his List A debut last December for Punjab against Chhattisgarh, scoring an impressive unbeaten 115. He followed this with scores of 64 and 42 in T20 matches against Madhya Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh, respectively. Earlier, during the Vijay Hazare Trophy, he scored 94 while batting at No. 3 against Goa.
When asked about his chances of making it to the playing XI this IPL, Pannu chuckled, "I’ll let my performance in the tournament speak for itself. Playing alongside seasoned players is always a great learning opportunity. I am confident in my abilities and ready to perform whenever called upon. Right now, my focus is on excelling in practice matches at the camp. I believe I can deliver for the team, especially in challenging situations."
Punjab Kings will kick off their home games at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) International Stadium in Mullanpur, starting with their match against Gujarat Titans on March 31, followed by a game against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 11. Additionally, the team will host three matches at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala. They will also face Chennai Super Kings on April 3 at MA Chidambaram Stadium and Kolkata Knight Riders on April 6 at Eden Gardens.
