Harmanpreet Singh Reflects on Meeting Cricket Icon Virat Kohli

In a recent event, Harmanpreet Singh, the captain of the Indian men's hockey team, shared his excitement about meeting cricket superstar Virat Kohli. This encounter took place during the Hockey India 8th Annual Awards 2025, where Harmanpreet was honored for achieving 250 international caps.


On Wednesday, he took to Instagram to post a photo with Kohli, highlighting his admiration for the cricketer's commitment and work ethic. Harmanpreet noted that elite athletes, regardless of their sport, often share a similar pursuit of excellence.


After receiving his award, he spoke to the media about the memorable experience of conversing with Kohli in Punjabi, describing him as a genuinely humble individual. "It felt amazing. He is such a humble person. I enjoyed our conversation in Punjabi, and I’m thrilled to have met him," he remarked.


Expressing pride in his milestone, Harmanpreet stated, "Completing 250 caps is a significant achievement for me, and I am delighted to receive this award."


Looking ahead, India is set to compete in Pool D of the FIH World Cup 2026, facing off against England, Pakistan, and Wales, with their first match against Wales on August 15.


Before the World Cup, India will also clash with Pakistan in an FIH Pro League match in the UK around June 23, 2026. Harmanpreet is optimistic about their chances, emphasizing the importance of learning from previous experiences to enhance team performance.


"We have a solid opportunity ahead. The match against Pakistan in England will be crucial. We need to analyze our strengths and areas for improvement. With 10 weeks until the Pro League, we aim to avoid repeating past mistakes and deliver a confident team performance," he concluded.
