Confidence from ODI World Cup Victory

On Wednesday, Harmanpreet Kaur, the captain of the Indian women's cricket team, expressed that their triumph in last year's ODI World Cup held in India significantly boosted the team's confidence and belief in their ability to secure more titles globally.

The Indian team celebrated their first ICC title by defeating South Africa in Navi Mumbai last November.

This landmark victory has inspired the squad to aim for success in the upcoming Women's T20 World Cup, scheduled to take place in the United Kingdom from June 12 to July 5.

Harmanpreet shared her thoughts during the ceremony where a stand was named in her honor at the Omaxe Stadium in Dwarka, stating, "In any field, achieving something remarkable is crucial for recognition; otherwise, it feels like all the hard work is in vain."

She emphasized that not only her team but also all previous women cricketers have dedicated immense effort, often at their own expense, making the title win essential. The positive response from fans and media has been incredibly rewarding for them.

Addressing the high expectations from fans for the T20 World Cup, she remarked, "We will strive to win the T20 World Cup. The last World Cup instilled confidence in us, and we now believe we can triumph anywhere in the world."

Recently, India toured Australia for a multi-format series that included three T20Is, three ODIs, and a single pink ball Test.

Although India lost the series 4-12 on points, Harmanpreet viewed the tour as a valuable learning opportunity.

"Such multi-format series are essential as they present numerous challenges. Each week, we had to adapt to a different format, which was a unique experience," she noted.

She added that this was the first time they had faced such a scenario, as they typically played either T20s or ODIs, making the experience of playing all three formats simultaneously quite challenging. The series began with India winning the T20s 2-1, but they lost the ODI series 0-3 and the lone Test match.

Harmanpreet expressed her emotions upon seeing a stand dedicated to her at the multi-sport facility.
