A Unique Fitness Experience in Bengaluru

Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], April 12: Indian cricket captain Harmanpreet Kaur took a break from her usual routine to witness the excitement of a fitness event, while two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu stepped off the badminton court to participate in a thrilling fitness challenge in Bengaluru.

In collaboration with sports brands PUMA, the official apparel and footwear partner for HYROX races globally, the city hosted this innovative race format for the first time.

HYROX is a worldwide fitness competition that uniquely blends functional workouts with endurance running, consisting of eight 1 km runs paired with workout stations. This event caters to athletes of all levels, from elite professionals to casual gym enthusiasts.

Sindhu, who is also a PUMA ambassador alongside Kaur, engaged in a mixed relay format, completing eight 1 km runs interspersed with eight functional workout stations, such as the sledge push and rowing. This fitness race required immense endurance, strength, and energy, with Harmanpreet cheering her on throughout the challenge.

Reflecting on her experience, Sindhu stated, “Badminton has always been my domain, but HYROX presents a completely different challenge. There are no opponents, just you against the clock and eight stations that test your limits. I found it tough yet intriguing. Harmanpreet’s support added an energy that motivated me to push harder. As athletes, we constantly seek ways to enhance our performance.”

Harmanpreet, the recently crowned World Cup-winning captain, shared, “Leading a team on the cricket field is one thing, but witnessing Sindhu tackle this challenge was a remarkable experience. Our sports are vastly different, and observing her compete at such a high level was truly inspiring. HYROX challenges you in ways that your own sport may not prepare you for.”

The Bengaluru edition of the fitness race saw an impressive turnout of over 8,200 participants across various categories, highlighting the community's enthusiasm and the growing popularity of HYROX as a competitive format.

HYROX made its debut in India in 2025, with events held in Mumbai and Delhi, attracting over 7,000 participants. The Bengaluru event builds on this momentum, further expanding the sport's reach and engaging a burgeoning community of competitive fitness lovers.
