Hardik Pandya Must Lead Mumbai Indians to Success

Former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh believes that Hardik Pandya, the captain of the Mumbai Indians, must reveal his true potential and take charge if the team hopes to make a significant impact in the upcoming IPL season.

Under Pandya's leadership, the Mumbai Indians are determined to break their five-year trophy drought and solidify their status as the most successful franchise in IPL history.

Harbhajan stated, "Hardik Pandya needs to show his authentic self. He must bring his best performance to the field. When he plays at his peak, both as a batsman and a bowler, it will greatly influence the team's success," during an interview on JioHotstar's 'Game Plan.'

He praised Pandya's bowling during the T20 World Cup, emphasizing that he needs to replicate that form in the IPL. A captain who leads by example inspires the entire team, and it ultimately comes down to their confidence.

Harbhajan added, "If Hardik and his teammates believe from the outset that they are not just participants but contenders for the trophy, the dynamics for MI can shift rapidly."

He also expressed skepticism about the possibility of both Quinton de Kock and Ryan Rickelton being included in the starting XI.

According to him, "I doubt the MI management will opt for both Quinton de Kock and Ryan Rickelton in the playing XI. It’s likely that only one of them will make the cut."

Harbhajan mentioned that Rohit Sharma is expected to lead the top order, with either de Kock or Rickelton partnering with him.

He explained, "Having both in the lineup will be challenging since MI has Rohit Sharma as the primary opener. Either Ryan Rickelton or Quinton de Kock will support him at the other end."

He concluded by stating that Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma are likely to follow at positions three and four, reinforcing his belief that both de Kock and Rickelton will not play simultaneously.
