Moataz and Singh Shine in Semi-Finals

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], March 21: Hana Moataz and Abhay Singh delivered impressive performances to secure their spots in the finals of the Indian Open, both achieving hard-fought 3-1 victories in their semi-final matches on Saturday.


As per a press release, second seed Hana Moataz initially struggled but ultimately outperformed her third-seeded fellow countrywoman Nadien Elhammamy with a score of 3-1 (11-8, 5-11, 11-5, 11-7).


The first game was a tightly contested affair, with both players exchanging leads before Moataz managed to clinch it 11-8. The second game mirrored this intensity, but Nadien gained momentum midway through, pulling ahead at 7-5 and finishing it off 11-5 to equalize the match.


In the third game, Moataz elevated her performance, dominating to win 11-5. She maintained this momentum into the fourth game, establishing a solid lead. Although Nadien attempted a comeback, Moataz remained composed, sealing the game 11-7 and the match.


In the men's semi-final, Abhay Singh faced a tough challenge from Malaysia's Ameeshenraj Chandaran, winning 3-1 (11-9, 9-11, 11-3, 11-8).


Chandaran, unseeded, matched Abhay's intensity throughout the match, with both players showcasing powerful forehands and strategic angles. Abhay started strong, taking a 9-4 lead in the first game, but Chandaran fought back with five consecutive points, nearly causing an upset before Abhay held on to win 11-9.


The second game remained closely contested. Chandaran, trailing 8-9, seized the moment to win three consecutive points, taking the game 11-9 and leveling the match.


Abhay responded decisively in the third game, winning comfortably at 11-3. The fourth game was another challenge, as he fell behind 2-6 but rallied to tie at 7-7 before closing out the match 11-8, securing his place in the final.
