Exciting Clash in IPL 2026

The Gujarat Titans, led by Shubman Gill, are set to face off against Pat Cummins' Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 56th match of IPL 2026. This highly anticipated game will take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Both teams are performing well, and the victor of this match on Tuesday, May 12, will claim the top spot in the standings.

Shubman Gill is on the verge of achieving a significant milestone, as he is just 21 runs shy of surpassing Ambati Rayudu, a six-time IPL champion, in the all-time IPL runs leaderboard. Rayudu concluded his IPL career with a total of 4,348 runs across 187 innings from 2010 to 2023. In contrast, Gill, who debuted in the IPL in 2018, has accumulated 4,328 runs in 125 innings and could potentially break Rayudu's record during the match against SRH.

Rayudu's IPL journey spanned 14 seasons, beginning with the Mumbai Indians in 2010, where he played until 2017. Although MI attempted to reacquire him in the 2018 mega-auction, he ultimately joined the Chennai Super Kings, where he was successfully re-signed in the 2022 mega-auction. He announced his retirement prior to the IPL 2023 final, concluding his career with six IPL titles, three of which were won with CSK and three with MI.

Shubman Gill's Journey in IPL

Shubman Gill made his IPL debut with the Kolkata Knight Riders in 2018 after being acquired for Rs 1.8 crore during the mega-auction. He spent four seasons with KKR before being signed by the Gujarat Titans ahead of the IPL 2022 mega-auction. After two seasons under Hardik Pandya's leadership, Gill took over as captain when Pandya left to join MI before the IPL 2024 season. Unfortunately, Gill's tenure as captain faced challenges, as GT missed the playoffs in IPL 2024 and lost in the eliminator of IPL 2025. Currently, they sit in third place in the IPL 2026 points table.
