Gujarat Titans' Shubman Gill Sets High Scoring Goals Ahead of IPL 2026
Gujarat Titans' Captain Outlines Team Goals
Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], March 26: With the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 just around the corner, Shubman Gill, the captain of Gujarat Titans, has shared the team's aspirations to consistently achieve high scores, tailored to the playing conditions.
Gill emphasized the importance of winning matches regardless of the pitch conditions, stating that the team should not depend solely on favorable wickets for their performance.
“Ultimately, the objective is to outscore the opposing team, whether by four runs or a larger margin of 150-200 runs. Our focus is not on the glory of hitting 300-350 runs in a single game. Instead, we aim to be a team that regularly scores substantial runs and meets the target set by the pitch,” Gill remarked during a pre-season press conference in Ahmedabad on Thursday.
The captain also stressed the need for adaptability, asserting that the team intends to perform well across various venues and conditions.
“We aspire to win matches in diverse conditions. We don’t want to be a team that only excels on good pitches,” he added.
Gill, a standout batter in the league, scored 650 runs last season, 426 runs the previous year, and an impressive 890 runs in 2023.
Gujarat Titans, under the leadership of Hardik Pandya, secured their first IPL title in 2022 during their inaugural season. As they approach the 2024 season, Gill has taken over as captain.
Gujarat Titans squad includes: Shubman Gill (captain), Rashid Khan, Sai Sudharsan, Rahul Tewatia, Shahrukh Khan, Kagiso Rabada, Jos Buttler, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Nishant Sindhu, Kumar Kushagra, Anuj Rawat, Manav Suthar, Washington Sundar, Arshad Khan, Gurnoor Brar, Sai Kishore, Ishant Sharma, Jayant Yadav, Glenn Phillips, Jason Holder, Ashok Sharma, Tom Banton, Luke Wood, and Kulwant Khejroliya.
