Gujarat Titans Secure Third Consecutive Victory Over Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2026
Gujarat Titans Triumph Over Kolkata Knight Riders
In a thrilling match, Gujarat Titans (GT) emerged victorious against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 5 wickets, marking their third consecutive win in IPL 2026. After starting the tournament with two losses against Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Rajasthan Royals (RR), GT has bounced back impressively, securing victories against Delhi Capitals (DC) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). This latest win has significantly improved their standing in the points table, bringing them to 6 points from 5 matches and elevating them to fourth place, thus entering the playoff contention.
Conversely, KKR remains without a win, currently sitting at the bottom of the table in 10th place with just one point from 5 games, severely diminishing their playoff aspirations.
Shubman Gill's Stellar Performance Leads GT to Victory
Cameron Green was the standout performer for KKR, scoring 79 runs off 55 balls as the team was bowled out for 180. The Knight Riders struggled early, losing three wickets during the powerplay for just 37 runs, and later collapsed, losing their last six wickets for only 33 runs in 32 balls. Kagiso Rabada was instrumental for GT, taking 3 wickets for 23 runs, while Mohammed Siraj and Ashok Sharma contributed with 2 wickets each. Rashid Khan and Prasidh Krishna also chipped in with one wicket each.
GT started strong, thanks to a solid partnership between Sai Sudharsan and captain Shubman Gill, who played a pivotal role in the chase, scoring an impressive 86 runs off 50 balls. Earlier in the match, KKR became the first team this season to bat first twice after winning the toss. The Titans maintained their lineup, while Tim Seifert replaced Finn Allen in the only change for the KKR side led by Ajinkya Rahane.
