Celebrating Table Tennis Excellence in Gujarat

The UTT 4th Gujarat State Ranking Table Tennis Tournament 2026 wrapped up with a medal distribution event at the Sama Sports Complex in Vadodara, aimed at honoring the victorious athletes.

Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi graced the occasion, presenting trophies, certificates, and cash awards to the winning players, as reported by the Gujarat Chief Minister's Office.

Additionally, he awarded the Sardar Patel Junior Awards for the years 2007-08, 2016-17, and 2018-19, congratulating the recipients. The dignitaries also unveiled the annual report booklet during the ceremony.

This year marks the fourth edition of the Gujarat State Ranking Table Tennis Tournament, featuring participation from 775 boys and girls across various age categories, including Under-9, 11, 13, 15, 17, and 19. A dedicated team of 30 technical support staff assisted the players throughout the event.

During the ceremony, the Deputy CM engaged in a friendly table tennis match with Vadodara MP Hemang Joshi, encouraging all attendees.

The event saw the presence of MLA Chaitanya Desai, former MP Jayaben Thakkar, Municipal Commissioner Arun Mahesh Babu, officials from the Table Tennis Association of Baroda, the Gujarat State Table Tennis Association, Sports Department officials, senior athletes, and numerous players along with their parents.

Earlier, Sanghavi had hoisted the national flag and initiated the Tiranga Yatra from Raipur in Ahmedabad, aimed at fostering patriotism among citizens.

This Yatra, organized nationwide to commemorate 150 years of Vande Mataram and celebrate Independence Day, also paid tribute to the brave soldiers safeguarding the nation. It was part of the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign, with participation from the Minister of State for Urban Development, Darshana Vaghela.

On this occasion, the Deputy CM emphasized that the Tricolour symbolizes patriotism from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and across all communities. He acknowledged the unwavering commitment of our soldiers to protect the country under all circumstances, urging every citizen to express gratitude to these heroes and their families.
