Goa's Sanket Arsekar Triumphs at IRONMAN 70.3 for Third Consecutive Year
Sanket Arsekar's Remarkable Achievement
On November 2, in Panaji, Goa, Sanket Arsekar successfully completed the IRONMAN 70.3 Goa triathlon for the third consecutive year.
The 38-year-old Arsekar, an active member of the BJP in Goa representing Sanvordem, participated in the half-marathon segment of the relay, which involved a 21.1 km run. His team, which included Ram and Navin, tackled the 1.9 km open-water swim and a 90 km cycling leg. Together, they finished the event in a total time of 6 hours and 3 minutes.
Now in its sixth year, the IRONMAN 70.3 Goa attracts athletes from both India and abroad, recognized as one of the most challenging endurance competitions in the nation. The event has also garnered attention from notable figures, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has praised such competitions as vital to the Fit India initiative.
Reflecting on his journey, Arsekar stated, “Three years ago, I decided to challenge myself. Now, it has become an integral part of my life. Fitness isn’t just about one race; it’s about commitment every day. If I can balance training with my job, anyone can start with just a 30-minute walk.”
Previously serving as the General Secretary of BJYM and leading the ABVP student cell, Arsekar is now affiliated with the Bajrang Dal. He has been proactive in promoting fitness and community engagement in Goa, organizing treks to local waterfalls to encourage outdoor activities and a lifestyle free from addiction.
In conjunction with his triathlon finish, Arsekar introduced #SuperFitNovember, a 30-day fitness challenge open to all in Goa. Participants are encouraged to perform simple exercises daily and share their progress on social media using the hashtag. The challenge will culminate in a 5 and 10 km marathon on November 29, where all consistent participants will receive medals.
“Run if you can, walk if you must. Just keep moving,” Arsekar concluded.
