Match Abandoned Due to Foggy Conditions

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], December 17: Cricket enthusiasts were left disheartened when the fourth T20I between India and South Africa was called off due to heavy fog at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium on Wednesday.

The match was set to commence at 7:30 PM IST, with the toss scheduled for 7:00 PM IST. However, after conducting six inspections, the umpires determined that the conditions were not conducive for play, leading to the match being abandoned without any play. The last inspection occurred at 9:25 PM IST.

Fans who attended the stadium were left frustrated, having to leave without witnessing any cricket action. Some supporters shared their disappointment, expressing their feelings after the match was canceled.

One fan lamented, "I sold three sacks of wheat to come here and watch the match, and now I want my money back."

Another supporter remarked, "It would have been better if the match had been scheduled earlier. Refunds are irrelevant; we just wanted to see our Indian team play."

Another fan added, "I am heartbroken."

According to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) refund policy, fans are eligible for refunds (minus fees) if a match is canceled or abandoned before any play occurs.

The fifth and final T20I between India and South Africa is set to take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on December 19.

Prior to the fourth T20I, Indian all-rounder Axar Patel was ruled out of the remaining matches in the series due to illness, as announced by the BCCI on December 15.

Shahbaz Ahmed has been named as Axar Patel's replacement for the remaining T20I matches against South Africa.
