Fakhar Zaman's Historic Achievement

During the 19th match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) on April 11, Lahore Qalandars' batter Fakhar Zaman made a significant mark in cricket history. After serving a two-match suspension for ball-tampering, Zaman returned to the lineup to face Peshawar Zalmi. Despite appealing against his ban, the committee upheld the decision, which is in line with PSL regulations that allow a maximum two-match suspension for such infractions.

Upon his return, Zaman achieved a remarkable feat by becoming the first player to participate in 100 matches for a single franchise in the PSL. He joined Lahore Qalandars prior to the 2017 season and has remained with the team ever since. Other notable players, such as Imad Wasim and Babar Azam, have also surpassed the 100-match milestone, with Wasim holding the record for the most appearances at 105, while Azam has played 104 matches.

Fakhar Zaman's Journey in PSL

Zaman made his PSL debut in 2017, scoring 177 runs across 8 matches. His performance improved in subsequent seasons, with 277 runs in 2018 and 285 runs in 2019. In 2020, he scored 321 runs in 12 matches, followed by 287 runs in 2021. His standout season came in 2022, where he amassed 588 runs, and he continued to perform well with 429 runs in 2023. This season, he has already scored 54 runs in just 2 matches.

Currently, Lahore Qalandars hold the sixth position in the PSL 2026 points table with 2 wins from 4 matches. The team is under the captaincy of Shaheen Afridi, who has led them to three PSL titles and is also the current ODI captain of the Pakistan national team.
