Exciting Playoffs Ahead in PSL 2026: Key Matches and Player Highlights
PSL 2026 Playoffs Set to Begin
The Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026 is entering its crucial playoff phase, with matches commencing on Tuesday, April 28. The tournament adopts a format similar to the IPL, where the top two teams are granted two opportunities to reach the final. In contrast, the teams finishing in third and fourth place must secure three consecutive victories in the playoffs to claim the championship.
Peshawar Zalmi, led by Babar Azam, dominated the league stage, finishing first with 8 wins out of 10 matches, accumulating 17 points and a net run rate (NRR) of +2.324. They are closely followed by Islamabad United, who secured 6 victories and 13 points, boasting an NRR of +1.667. Both Peshawar and Islamabad will have two chances to advance to the final.
In third place, Multan Sultans achieved 6 wins and 12 points with an NRR of +0.326. Hyderabad Kingsmen managed 5 wins, resulting in 10 points and an NRR of -0.361. The previous champions, Lahore Qalandars, also recorded 5 wins but had a lower NRR (-0.482) than Hyderabad, preventing them from progressing. Quetta Gladiators, last season's runners-up, also missed out on the playoffs.
