Ticket Sales for T20 World Cup 2026 Kick Off
New Delhi, January 14: The second phase of ticket sales for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 commenced today on BookMyShow, generating significant enthusiasm among fans. This excitement is particularly high for the anticipated India vs Pakistan match, alongside other fixtures available in this ticket release.
As soon as the tickets became available, BookMyShow faced a massive influx of users eager to secure their spots for what is often regarded as the most popular match in the tournament. The surge in traffic led to temporary server issues on the platform.
Tickets are being sold for matches at eight venues across India, including major cities like Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata, Mumbai, and Ahmedabad, as well as in Kandy and Colombo, Sri Lanka. To enhance accessibility and ensure a great experience for fans, the ICC has set ticket prices starting at just Rs 100 in India and LKR 1000 in Sri Lanka (approximately USD 3.26).
This marks the 10th edition of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, returning to India for the first time since 2016, when the West Indies emerged victorious. India will be looking to defend their title on home turf after their historic win in the previous edition held in 2024.
For Sri Lanka, this will be the second time hosting the tournament since 2012.
The opening day of the T20 World Cup 2026 promises thrilling matches: Pakistan will face the Netherlands in Colombo, the West Indies will take on Bangladesh in Kolkata, and India will compete against the USA in Mumbai. India is placed in Group A alongside rivals Pakistan, Namibia, the Netherlands, and the USA.
Recently, the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 trophy made a stop at the Bouddhanath Stupa in Kathmandu, Nepal, as part of its trophy tour leading up to the tournament. Hundreds gathered to capture moments with the trophy, which began its journey last year from Adam’s Bridge, where it was lifted by a paramotor against the stunning backdrop of India’s southern coast.
The trophy tour was officially launched in Kathmandu on January 5, 2025, symbolizing the connection between India and Sri Lanka, with Adam’s Bridge, also known as Ram Setu, being a culturally significant site. Since then, the trophy has also visited Pokhara in the Kaski district. The 10th edition of this prestigious event will feature 20 teams competing over 29 days of intense cricket across eight venues in India and Sri Lanka, scheduled from February 7 to March 8.
