ILT20 Season 4 Kicks Off with Anticipation

Dubai [UAE], December 2: The International League T20 (ILT20) Season 4 is set to commence, bringing a wave of enthusiasm as it promises to showcase top-tier cricket to fans globally. This season marks a significant milestone in the league's evolution, featuring the inaugural Player Auction for Season 4 and welcoming players from Saudi Arabia and Kuwait for the first time, according to an announcement from ILT20.

As the region's leading T20 league prepares to launch tomorrow, captains and key players from all six franchises convened to share their excitement and expectations for the upcoming season.

Gulbadin Naib, the all-rounder from Afghanistan and representative of the reigning champions, Dubai Capitals, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “It’s great to be here. We cherish this tournament. After winning last year, we are eager for another successful season. This platform is significant for everyone involved. We have new talents eager to contribute to the team. As professionals, it’s crucial for us to have the right mindset. We are familiar with the conditions and should adapt well. The support we received was fantastic, and we hope for more of the same this year,” as noted in the ILT20 release.

Lockie Ferguson, who guided the Desert Vipers to their second consecutive finals appearance last season, emphasized the team's unity and balance, saying, “It feels like a family. The camaraderie among the players is strong, and we performed exceptionally well throughout last season. This year, we aim to improve even further. With new players joining, I’m excited to collaborate with Naseem Shah, David Payne, and Khuzaima Tanveer in our well-rounded bowling lineup. This tournament provides young players with a fantastic opportunity to learn quickly.”

Jason Holder, the West Indies all-rounder, will lead the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders. He expressed a desire to improve upon last season's last-place finish, stating, “Our goal is straightforward: we want to win. We need to maintain discipline and execute our strategies. It’s a lengthy tournament, so we’ll approach each match individually. Having familiar faces in the team is beneficial. We possess considerable power and depth, and our challenge will be to integrate all our strengths effectively.”

Moeen Ali, representing the Gulf Giants, who won the inaugural title in 2023 but missed the playoffs last season, remarked, “The competition has intensified, and I’m thrilled to be part of a new team. We’ve taken a different approach with our player selections. The quality of our local players is crucial, and we aim to return to our rightful place as title contenders. Our goal is to entertain our fans as much as possible.”

Kieron Pollard, taking over from Nicholas Pooran for MI Emirates, added, “We love playing here. The UAE is an exciting venue for cricket, which motivates us further. We hope for favorable outcomes. Consistency is key, and understanding what’s required at any moment is essential. From a planning standpoint, we have assembled the ideal team, featuring outstanding UAE players like Muhammad Waseem, Rohid, and Zahoor Khan. This tournament showcases the best international talent, raising the competition level significantly.”

Tim Southee of the Sharjah Warriorz expressed his eagerness for the season, stating, “I’m excited about the upcoming matches. The quality of our team and others is impressive, and the local players have shown remarkable skill. Dinesh Karthik’s experience will be a valuable asset to our squad. We aim to build on our performance from Season 3, as our team has great balance. We’ve witnessed the growth of UAE cricket, and I expect the same progress from players from Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.”

The season opener is scheduled for Tuesday, featuring a thrilling rematch between the defending champions, Dubai Capitals, and the Desert Vipers, who faced off in last season's final. Fans can also look forward to a spectacular opening ceremony, featuring singer Ali Zafar.
