Esha Singh Achieves Historic Victory in Munich

Munich [Germany], May 27: Indian shooter Esha Singh made headlines by breaking the world record in the women's 25-metre pistol event at the ISSF World Cup held in Munich on Wednesday.


According to reports from Olympics.com, Esha displayed remarkable composure during the elimination rounds, ultimately scoring 43 out of 50 in the final, which is recognized as a world record for both junior and senior categories.


This achievement marks India's first individual medal at the ISSF World Cup this season across all shooting events. The 21-year-old shooter has also secured a spot in the ISSF World Cup final scheduled for December in Italy.


Germany's former world champion Doreen Vennekamp claimed the silver medal with a score of 38 out of 50, while Bulgaria's Miroslava Mincheva took home the bronze with 31 out of 45.


The Olympic champion Yang Ji-in, who led the qualification round with a score of 592-28x, finished in fifth place.


Esha qualified fifth with a score of 587-19x, achieving 293 in precision shooting and 294 in rapid fire.


In contrast, double Olympic medalist Manu Bhaker ended up in 12th place in the qualification round, missing the final with a score of 582-19x.


Rahi Sarnobat, who won gold at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in the same discipline, finished 14th with a score of 581-23x.


Additionally, India's Arshdeep Kaur and Tejaswani participated under ranking points only (RPO) status, finishing in 44th and 51st places, respectively.


Overall, Esha's victory represents India's third medal in this season's World Cup events across rifle, pistol, and shotgun disciplines. Earlier, Mukesh Nelavalli and Palak Gulia won gold in the 10m air pistol mixed team event in Spain, while Vivaan Kapoor and Neeru Dhanda secured bronze in the mixed team trap event in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
