Manchester [UK], June 29: Manchester City has officially announced the appointment of Enzo Maresca as their new manager, succeeding Pep Guardiola starting next season. The Premier League club revealed this decision on Monday.
The Italian coach has inked a three-year deal that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2029.
This marks Maresca's third tenure with Manchester City, bringing a wealth of experience and a successful track record at the highest levels of football.
Expressing his enthusiasm, Maresca stated that he is well-acquainted with Manchester City and views this opportunity as a significant milestone in his career. He commended the club's operational structure, describing it as innovative and well-managed, which he believes is essential for a manager's success. Maresca emphasized his understanding of the club's high standards and expectations.
“Manchester City is a club I know very well, and having the chance to manage this team is a fantastic opportunity for me. City operates as an exceptionally well-run football club. This will be my third time here, and I am familiar with the demands and expectations,” Maresca remarked in a statement from the club.

Khaldoon Al Mubarak, the chairman of Manchester City, remarked that Maresca is a perfect fit for the club, noting that his football philosophy aligns seamlessly with the club's core values.

Notably, the 46-year-old previously served as Pep Guardiola's assistant during the club's historic treble-winning season in 2023. He also managed the Elite Development Squad (EDS), leading them to the Premier League 2 title in the 2020/21 season during his sole year in charge.
