Henderson Addresses Altitude Challenges in Mexico City

In Mexico City, England's midfielder Jordan Henderson has humorously dismissed rumors suggesting that the team is using Viagra to adapt to the high altitude before their 2026 FIFA World Cup match against Mexico at the renowned Estadio Azteca.

The England squad has been concentrating on adjusting to the challenging conditions, situated nearly 2,000 meters above sea level, as they gear up for their round of 16 match against Mexico.

Both Henderson and England's head coach Thomas Tuchel acknowledged the real physical challenges posed by the altitude, while also poking fun at the online speculation regarding Viagra use.

Tuchel clarified to reporters, "I haven't received any information to support the Viagra rumors, so that’s not true," as reported by a sports news outlet.

Henderson added humorously, "Well, the Viagra helped, I think... I’m joking!" He further explained, "You can feel the altitude a bit; I noticed it when I first arrived at the hotel and was walking around. During training, I felt it for the first 10-15 minutes, but once we got going, I focused on the training instead."

Interestingly, the medication is not prohibited by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), leading to discussions about its potential use as a performance enhancer.

As England prepares to face a formidable Mexican team with a strong home advantage, the altitude at the iconic Azteca stadium remains a significant factor in their upcoming match on July 6.
