England Women Choose to Field in Third T20I

Taunton [UK], June 2: In the third T20I of the four-match series, England Women won the toss and decided to field first against India Women at The Cooper Associates County Ground in Taunton.

The Indian team began the series strongly, securing a 38-run victory in the first match, which gave them a 1-0 lead. However, England responded effectively in the second T20I, winning by 26 runs to level the series at 1-1, setting the stage for a pivotal third match.

With the series tied, both teams are eager to gain an advantage in the upcoming fourth T20I after this match concludes.

Following the toss, England's captain Charlotte Dean spoke about the confidence boost from their previous win in Bristol. She expressed optimism for continuing their success.

“We are going to bowl. The win in Bristol was fantastic for us, a real confidence booster, and we hope to replicate that today for another victory. We’ve kept the same team. There was some temptation to make changes, but we believe this is our strongest side against India,” Dean stated.

On the other hand, India Women’s captain Harmanpreet Kaur expressed a preference to bat first after losing the toss. She emphasized the need for her team to play freely and set a competitive total.

“We were hoping to bat first as it’s a crucial match. We believe that if we can bat freely and post a good score, it will help us. We discussed in our team meeting to stay positive and trust our skills,” Harmanpreet mentioned.

“This series is a great opportunity to prepare for the T20 World Cup, and we are enjoying ourselves. We hope this series will build our confidence heading into the World Cup. We have made one change: Kranti is back in the lineup in place of Shreyanka,” she added.
