Hong Kong, October 22: England has revealed its lineup for the upcoming Hong Kong Sixes 2026, appointing John Simpson, the captain of Sussex, as the leader of the team. The tournament is set to take place from October 30 to November 1, 2026, at the Tin Kwong Road Recreation Ground in Hong Kong.

The Hong Kong Sixes features a dynamic format with six players per team and six overs per innings, emphasizing aggressive play and rapid scoring.

Simpson will guide a squad of seven, which includes Edward Barnard, Fynn Hudson-Prentice, Jack Carson, Martin Andersson, Daniel Mousley, and Nathan Gilchrist. This team blends seasoned leadership with the versatility needed to excel in this fast-paced cricket format. England will compete in Group A against Australia and Hong Kong, aiming to surpass their semi-final finish from 2025.

With over ten years in the English county circuit, Simpson has been a pivotal figure. He led Sussex to promotion in 2024 and amassed 1,086 runs in the County Championship in 2025. His experience includes three ODI matches for England against Pakistan in July 2021, and he was part of the MCC squad for the Hong Kong Sixes in 2017. Edward Barnard, captain of Warwickshire, contributed to Worcestershire's victory in the 2018 T20 Blast, while Jack Carson, an off-spinner from Sussex, led his county in the One Day Cup this season. Martin Andersson, an all-rounder from Derbyshire, is in excellent form, having recorded 6 for 23 against Leicestershire in the Vitality Blast, marking the best T20 figures in Derbyshire's history and earning him the PCA Player of the Month award for May 2026.

Daniel Mousley, a left-handed batter from Warwickshire who also bowls off-spin, brings international experience with caps in both ODIs and T20Is, having participated in last year's Hong Kong Sixes. Fynn Hudson-Prentice, another all-rounder from Sussex, adds depth in both batting and seam bowling, while Nathan Gilchrist, a right-arm quick from Warwickshire, provides genuine pace.

The tournament will be broadcast live in India on Sony Sports Network and available for streaming on FanCode.
