England Lions Dominate First Innings

On the fourth and final day of the opening unofficial 'Test', the England Lions' lower-order batsmen showcased resilience against the India A bowling attack, securing a 30-run lead in their first innings. After India A posted a total of 557 runs, the Lions responded with a score of 587 just before the lunch break.

In the brief over before lunch, India A managed to score 9 runs without losing a wicket, with Yashasvi Jaiswal (8 not out) hitting a six off left-arm bowler Josh Hull to kick off their second innings.

With two sessions remaining, the India A batsmen aimed to capitalize on the opportunity for some straightforward runs in a scenario resembling a practice session.

Earlier in the day, starting at 527 for 7, the Lions' lower-order contributed an additional 60 runs. Eddie Jack (25) and Ajeet Singh Dale (27 not out) formed a partnership of 49 runs for the last wicket, frustrating the India A bowlers on the final morning.

The Lions' innings was highlighted by three left-handed centurions: Tom Haines (171), Max Holden (101), and Dan Mousley (113).

Mukesh Kumar stood out among the Indian bowlers with figures of 3/92 in 25 overs, while Shardul Thakur had a disappointing outing with 2/105 in 28 overs. Harshit Rana, despite being hit around on the third day, managed to take 1 wicket for 99 runs in 27 overs, sending Hull's stump flying. The only silver lining for India was that all their bowlers managed to take at least one wicket.
