Birmingham [UK], September 10: England has significantly strengthened their position in the third Test against Pakistan at Edgbaston, establishing a commanding 320-run lead after scoring 453 in their first innings and reducing Pakistan to 46/2 by the end of Day 2.
Starting their innings at 156/4 from Day 1, England's middle order continued to accumulate runs, despite Pakistan's bowlers achieving some breakthroughs. Harry Brook, who resumed his innings unbeaten, reached a solid half-century, finishing with 75 runs before his dismissal. Dan Lawrence played a vital role with a score of 65, while wicketkeeper Jamie Smith contributed 69, pushing England's total past the 400-run mark.
Ollie Robinson added excitement towards the end with a brisk 50 off just 46 deliveries, further extending England's lead before they were all out for 453. For Pakistan, debutant Razaullah was the standout bowler, claiming four wickets, although he faced significant runs during England's aggressive batting.

Pakistan's struggles with the bat continued in their second innings. England's Ollie Robinson made an immediate impact, taking two wickets in the first over, dismissing Saim Ayub and Abdullah Shafique, leaving Pakistan in a precarious position at 0/2.
Azan Awais and Shan Masood then tried to stabilize the innings, bringing Pakistan to 46/2 before rain interruptions halted play for the day. Awais ended the day unbeaten on 29, while Masood remained not out on 19, with Pakistan still trailing England by 274 runs.
Earlier, Pakistan had a disappointing first innings, bowled out for just 133, with Saud Shakeel's 43 being the only notable score. England's pace attack, spearheaded by Josh Tongue's four wickets, along with three each from Ollie Robinson and Jofra Archer, dismantled Pakistan's batting order.
With England already leading the three-match series 2-0, they are now just eight wickets away from achieving a series whitewash, while Pakistan faces the challenging task of avoiding another significant defeat.
