In a gripping finale at Lord's, Rohit Sharma's outstanding century was overshadowed by Ben Duckett's remarkable 141 and Jacob Bethell's 91, leading England to a 27-run victory over India in the third and final ODI. This win secured the series for England with a 2-1 margin.

The match turned into a high-scoring spectacle, with both teams amassing a total of 747 runs.

Batting first, England set a new record at Lord's, scoring 387/3, the highest ODI total at this historic venue. The opening pair of Duckett and Bethell formed a solid foundation with a 192-run partnership.

Joe Root contributed an impressive 74 not out off 48 balls, while captain Jos Buttler added a quickfire 41 off just 13 balls, helping England score 62 runs in the last three overs. India's bowlers struggled, with Prasidh Krishna being the only notable wicket-taker, finishing with figures of 2/69.

In response, India began strongly with Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill putting together a 147-run opening stand, with Rohit showcasing his classic batting style.

Rohit scored a brilliant 138 runs off 110 balls, marking his 34th ODI century, which included 17 fours and five sixes. Gill supported him well with a steady 77. Rohit's score is now the highest by an Indian against England in England, surpassing his own previous record of 137.

Virat Kohli also played a crucial role, scoring 74 off 60 balls, and together with Rohit, they formed a 113-run partnership for the second wicket. This partnership marked their 21st century stand in ODIs, placing them second in the all-time list for most 100-plus partnerships, just behind Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly.

At one point, India was well-positioned at 304/2, looking to achieve a record chase.

However, the match took a dramatic turn as India suffered a middle-order collapse, losing three wickets for just 12 runs.

Sam Curran led England's resurgence with a four-wicket haul, while Jofra Archer provided a crucial breakthrough by dismissing KL Rahul. England's bowlers maintained their composure in the final overs, preventing India from mounting a comeback.

India concluded their innings at 360/7 after 50 overs.

Earlier, Duckett's impressive partnership with Bethell (who scored 91 off 93 balls) was pivotal, and Duckett continued his form with another century stand alongside Root. Root's performance this year has been exceptional, accumulating 496 runs in six ODIs at an average of 248.00, remaining unbeaten four times.

Root has scored fifties in every match of the series, totaling 249 runs without being dismissed, the highest in an ODI series.

Jos Buttler's quick cameo of 41 off 13 balls propelled England to their record total of 387/3, surpassing their previous best of 334/4 against India in the 1975 World Cup.

The partnership between Root and Buttler was particularly explosive, achieving a run rate of 19.89, the highest for a 50+ partnership against India in ODIs.

This score ranks as the fourth-highest ODI total against India, with South Africa's 438/4 in 2015 still holding the record.

India's performance in the death overs was disappointing, conceding 126 runs in the final ten overs, marking their third-worst showing in this phase. The absence of injured Jasprit Bumrah was felt keenly.

Gurnoor Brar, who had impressed in previous matches, had a tough outing, going wicketless in his 10 overs while conceding 97 runs, one of the worst performances by an Indian bowler. In contrast, Prasidh Krishna's achievement of 50 ODI wickets ties him with Bumrah as the third-fastest Indian to reach this milestone.
