Hossam Hassan Acknowledges Belgium's Strength Ahead of World Cup Opener

Seattle [US], June 15: Hossam Hassan, the coach of the Egyptian national team, has recognized the formidable nature of the Belgian squad but emphasized that Egypt possesses its own talented players who can influence the game as they gear up for their FIFA World Cup 2026 opener on Monday.

Belgium boasts a roster filled with stars such as Kevin De Bruyne, Jeremy Doku, Leandro Trossard, and Romelu Lukaku. However, Egypt counters with its own lineup featuring Mohamed Salah, Omar Marmoush, Mohamed Abdelmoneim, and Emam Ashour.

In his remarks before the match against Belgium, Hassan expressed respect for the Belgian team and acknowledged their world-class talent. Yet, he confidently stated that Egypt also has players capable of making significant contributions during the match.

“We hold the Belgium national team in high regard,” Hassan stated. “They have prominent names, and their capabilities are well-known globally. However, we too have our stars who can change the game,” he added.

Hassan highlighted Mohamed Salah's importance to the team, both on and off the field, noting that his skills are recognized worldwide.

“Mohamed Salah is crucial for us, both during matches and in our overall strategy,” Hassan remarked. “His abilities are acknowledged around the globe,” he continued.

The coach outlined Egypt's goal of accumulating sufficient points to advance to the knockout stage of the World Cup, stating that this is their primary ambition and expectation.

“Our objective is to secure enough points to progress to the next round, and this is what we aim for,” Hassan explained.

While Belgium is favored to win the upcoming World Cup match, Egypt has a historical advantage, having triumphed in three out of their four previous encounters, including their last meeting in 2022.
