Edinburgh Castle Rockers Secure Victory in ETPL

Voorburg [Netherlands], September 6: The Edinburgh Castle Rockers showcased their dominance in the ETPL by defeating Glasgow Cosmic by seven wickets in Match 16, successfully chasing down a target of 160 runs with six balls to spare at the Voorburg Cricket Club.

After previously overcoming Glasgow in the tournament's initial Scottish derby, the Rockers delivered another confident performance, marking their second win against their rivals and solidifying their lead at the top of the standings.

Winning the toss, Edinburgh opted to bowl first. Glasgow started strong with Jason Roy and Finn Allen, who contributed 30 runs before Allen was dismissed for nine runs, followed by Roy for 20.

George Munsey then accelerated the innings with a quick 31 runs off 24 balls, but Tom Curran took out the Glasgow captain when the score was 72 for three. Liam Livingstone and Richie Berrington then ramped up the scoring.

Livingstone scored 36 runs from 30 balls, hitting two fours and two sixes, before being dismissed by Trent Boult at the end of the 17th over. Berrington delivered a powerful performance, scoring 38 runs off just 20 balls, including two fours and three sixes, as Glasgow finished their innings at 159 for six after 20 overs.

The Rockers began their chase aggressively. Ross Adair hit three sixes in his quick 21 runs from 11 balls before being dismissed in the third over. JJ Smuts also fell early, leaving Edinburgh at 28 for two. However, Andries Gous and Brandon McMullen took charge.

The duo added 108 runs in 68 balls, significantly boosting the chase and putting Edinburgh ahead of the required run rate. Gous anchored the innings with 49 runs from 40 balls, including five fours and a six, while McMullen played aggressively, finishing with an unbeaten 82 runs from 47 balls.

Gous was dismissed by Lungi Ngidi at 136 for three, but the groundwork had been laid. McMullen remained at the crease alongside Laurie Evans, needing just 23 runs from the last four overs.

The pair maintained control, leading Edinburgh to a total of 163 for three with six balls remaining, successfully completing another chase against Glasgow.

McMullen's unbeaten 82 was crucial, while Gous's 49 provided the necessary stability to recover from early setbacks. Although Berrington and Livingstone finished strongly for Glasgow, their total ultimately fell short against an Edinburgh team that expertly managed the chase.

This victory adds to the Rockers' tally in the Scottish rivalry and highlights their consistent performance throughout the tournament. With this win against Glasgow, Edinburgh remains the only unbeaten team in the ETPL.
