Strengthening Cricket Access in Uttar Pradesh

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], March 3: DP World has taken a significant step in promoting grassroots cricket by launching its Beyond Boundaries Initiative, which includes the introduction of a refurbished shipping container pavilion and the distribution of 250 cricket kits in Lucknow, with cricket icon Yuvraj Singh in attendance.

The shipping container has been converted into a fully functional pavilion, offering young athletes a dedicated area for training, preparation, and relaxation.

This pavilion was inaugurated at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Cricket Stadium in Lucknow, where it will be permanently located at the Sage Cricket Academy. The 250 cricket kits are intended to assist selected academies in providing better access to equipment and organized coaching.

This initiative is a collaboration with the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association, reinforcing DP World’s commitment to donate 10 kits for every 100 runs scored during ICC tournaments.

During the event, Yuvraj Singh remarked, “Talent is present in every part of India, but having access to the right facilities and equipment is crucial. Programs like Beyond Boundaries help eliminate that barrier, providing young cricketers with the necessary infrastructure and confidence to chase their aspirations.”

Hemant Kumar Ruia, Country Manager for DP World in the Subcontinent, stated, “Access is one of the major challenges for aspiring cricketers. At DP World, we believe that opportunities should not be restricted by infrastructure. We are proud to launch Beyond Boundaries in Lucknow alongside the ICC, enhancing community access to cricket by combining facilities, equipment, and strong local partnerships to create pathways for young talent.”

Prem Manohar Gupta, Honorary Secretary of the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association, added, “Uttar Pradesh boasts a rich cricketing heritage and a vast pool of emerging talent. We are excited to collaborate with DP World on the Beyond Boundaries Initiative to further bolster grassroots development in the state. Such collaborations are vital in motivating young players and supporting the ongoing growth of the sport.”

Since its inception in 2023, the Beyond Boundaries Initiative has successfully delivered 13 repurposed shipping containers and 3,500 cricket kits across eight nations. In India, communities in New Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, and Chennai have already benefited from this program.

Utilizing its extensive global network across more than 80 countries, DP World plans to continue expanding the Beyond Boundaries Initiative in key markets worldwide, with further international rollouts scheduled through 2026.
