On August 6, Delhi Minister Ashish Sood extended his congratulations to a group of young athletes, including Ankush, Nikhil Lochab, Anuj, Akshara, Kunal, Sanjana, and Ronak Dahiya, for their impressive performances in various national and international competitions. In another notable event last month, India's Special Olympics Bharat football team received a heartfelt send-off at the Embassy of Sweden in New Delhi. As reigning champions, they set off for the Gothia Cup in Gothenburg, aiming to achieve a historic third consecutive title in the Special Olympics Trophy category.
The Gothia Cup, recognized as the largest youth football tournament globally, will take place in Gothenburg, Sweden, from July 12 to 18, featuring nearly 1,700 teams from around the world. During the send-off ceremony, Minister Sood commended the team's past accomplishments and expressed his hopes for their success in securing a third title.
"Today, a team of children with intellectual challenges, under the banner of Special Olympics Bharat, is heading to Sweden to compete in the esteemed Gothia Cup, which has been held since 1975. They are striving for a hat-trick of victories. I also applaud the formation of such a dynamic team and the strengthening of the sports ecosystem in our country," Sood added.
