Delhi Capitals Triumph in IPL 2026 Debut

In their opening match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, Delhi Capitals (DC) achieved a solid victory against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), winning by six wickets at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on April 1. This match marked the first away win of the season, with all previous games being claimed by the chasing teams. Sameer Rizvi shone with the bat, scoring 70 runs off 47 balls, while Tristan Stubbs contributed 39 runs off 32 balls, forming an impressive unbeaten partnership of 119 runs off 76 deliveries. The Capitals found themselves in a precarious position at 26-4 but successfully chased down a target of 146 runs with 17 balls remaining. Earlier, LSG was dismissed for a mere 141 runs, with Lungi Ngidi and T Natarajan each taking three wickets, while Kuldeep Yadav added two to his tally.

Delhi Capitals will next face Mumbai Indians (MI) on Saturday, April 4, at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, marking the tournament's first afternoon match with a start time of 3:30 PM IST. LSG will also play a day match, as they prepare for their first away game against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Hyderabad on Sunday, April 5. Meanwhile, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will host SRH at Eden Gardens today, April 2.
