Delhi Capitals Kick Off Pre-Season Training

Panaji (Goa) [India], December 31: As the fourth edition of the Women’s Premier League approaches, the Delhi Capitals (DC) have commenced their pre-season training camp in Goa.

Among the first to arrive were seasoned all-rounder Marizanne Kapp and wicketkeeper-batter Lizelle Lee, who recently contributed to Hobart's WBBL championship victory. They were joined by Taniyaa Bhatia, Lucy Hamilton, and Indian players Niki Prasad, Minnu Mani, Mamatha Madiwala, Deeya Yadav, and Nandni Sharma, as stated in a press release from DC.

The squad is under the guidance of Head Coach Jonathan Batty, with additional Indian national team members expected to join after the Sri Lanka series concludes on Tuesday.

Commenting on the pre-season activities, Coach Batty expressed, “It’s fantastic to have the team together and start strategizing for the upcoming season. With some new players, it will be thrilling to see how they integrate into our team philosophy. The weather in Goa is ideal for our preparations. The remaining players will arrive shortly, and we’ll ramp up training with the full squad before heading to Mumbai to kick off our season, taking it one match at a time towards our goals.”

Sunil Gupta, CEO, remarked, “From a franchise standpoint, players enjoy returning to Delhi Capitals; it feels like family. The pre-season camp is where both fun and serious training begin. It’s an excellent chance for players to connect, especially with newcomers in the mix, and Goa is a perfect setting to establish our foundation. Our consistent performance over the past seasons has led us to three consecutive finals, and we aim to maintain that momentum this year. We warmly welcome our new team members and look forward to uniting the full squad for comprehensive preparations.”

The three-time finalists, Delhi Capitals, will kick off their WPL 2026 journey against the Mumbai Indians on January 10 in Navi Mumbai.
