Delhi Capitals Prepare for Upcoming IPL Season

New Delhi, March 24: The Delhi Capitals' leadership team, including Captain Axar Patel, Head Coach Hemang Badani, and Director of Cricket Venugopal Rao, engaged with the media on Monday to discuss their strategies and preparations for the upcoming IPL season.

Axar Patel emphasized the vibrant energy within the squad as a crucial element for their success this season. He stated, “The enthusiasm in our group is what excites me the most. When players are motivated and eager to perform, it shows on the field. As a captain, this gives me confidence that we are on the right path and building something solid together.”

Reflecting on his second year as captain, Axar noted, “There is greater clarity in our playing style. Last season taught us valuable lessons about various situations, our players, and my own leadership. Our focus now is on maintaining a positive and aggressive approach while fostering trust within the team. When players feel supported, their performances improve, and that’s the environment we aim to create.”

He also mentioned the importance of looking forward rather than dwelling on past performances. “As a team, we don’t dwell on previous results. Everyone is aware of where we could have improved, but our discussions are centered around how to enhance our performance moving forward. It’s about staying positive and focusing on what we can control,” he added.

Head Coach Hemang Badani highlighted the evolving nature of T20 cricket and its impact on team strategies. “The format has progressed to a stage where intent is paramount. Scores exceeding 220 are becoming the norm, and teams that adapt swiftly are the ones that thrive. It’s no longer just about phases; it’s about being proactive and recognizing the constant changes in the game,” Badani explained.

Supporting Axar’s leadership, Badani stressed the significance of continuity within the team. “He comprehends the environment and what it takes to lead in a tournament like this. We witnessed some strong phases last season, showcasing the potential of our group. Continuity in leadership allows us to build on that and move forward with greater clarity,” he remarked.

Venugopal Rao, Director of Cricket for the Delhi Capitals, underscored the need for stability while also focusing on future development. “Continuity in leadership is vital, and Axar brings a deep understanding of both the team and its fans. Simultaneously, we are committed to future growth. Players like Sahil Parakh exemplify the scouting efforts we are undertaking. He is a young talent with significant potential, and these are the types of players we aim to identify and nurture within the Delhi Capitals,” Rao stated.

With a renewed emphasis on clarity, trust, and adaptability, the Delhi Capitals are set to take the field as a unified team, ready to embrace the challenges of IPL 2026.
