Pune (Maharashtra) [India], November 6: Deepti Sharma, the captain of Uttar Pradesh and a prominent all-rounder for India, showcased her exceptional form by scoring an unbeaten half-century and taking a wicket, which propelled her team to a decisive 10-wicket win over Uttarakhand Women in the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy Elite 2026-27 on Friday. This performance came just a day after she received a nomination for the ICC Women’s Player of the Month award for October 2026.
This nomination highlights Deepti's remarkable contributions to the Indian team during October, especially her stellar performance in the ODI series against Zimbabwe, where she scored a century in tough conditions and took seven wickets throughout the series. Her efforts were pivotal in India's successful campaign, building on the momentum from their historic victory at the 2025 ICC Women’s ODI World Cup, where she was honored as the Player of the Tournament.
Bringing her international success to the domestic arena, Deepti has been a standout player for Uttar Pradesh in the ongoing Senior Women’s T20 Trophy. In four matches, she has amassed 226 runs and taken three wickets, proving her worth as a crucial player with both bat and ball.
Her recent outings include a remarkable 89 against Jharkhand and an unbeaten 53 against Uttarakhand on Friday. Additionally, she scored 84 runs against Delhi, demonstrating her reliability and ability to make significant contributions in the middle order.
In the match against Uttarakhand, Deepti played a key role in the chase, scoring an unbeaten 53 off 40 balls while partnering with Varnika Singh, who also remained not out with 46 runs off 35 balls. Together, they formed an unbroken opening partnership, successfully chasing down the target of 106 runs in just 12.3 overs without losing a wicket.
Earlier, the Uttar Pradesh bowling attack limited Uttarakhand to 105 runs in their 20 overs, with Deepti contributing one wicket to the team's efforts.
