Historic Achievement for Deepti Sharma

In a crucial match during the Women's T20 World Cup, Indian spinner Deepti Sharma made history by becoming the all-time highest wicket-taker in women's international cricket. This remarkable feat was achieved when she dismissed Australian opener Beth Mooney, who attempted a slog sweep but was caught by Radha Yadav at long-on.

With this wicket, Deepti's career total reached 356 international wickets, surpassing the previous record held by former Indian pacer Jhulan Goswami, who had 355 wickets.

The top six wicket-takers in women's international cricket now include Australia's Ellyse Perry (336), England's Katherine Sciver-Brunt (335), Sophie Ecclestone (333), and South Africa's Shabnim Ismail (323).

In the final Group A match at Lord's, Australia Women defeated India Women by six wickets, eliminating the Indian team from the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026. India needed a victory to advance to the semi-finals but faced a tough challenge.

Australia and South Africa led the Group A standings, with South Africa securing a win over Bangladesh earlier in the day. This loss marked India's exit from the tournament, following a previous defeat to South Africa in the group stage.

Australia, on the other hand, advanced to the semi-finals without losing a match, showcasing their dominance in ICC events. This match also recorded the highest successful run chase in Women's T20 World Cup history.
