UP Warriorz Shine in WPL Match Against RCB

Navi Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], January 12: A remarkable partnership of 93 runs between Deepti Sharma and Deandra Dottin for the sixth wicket propelled UP Warriorz to a total of 143/5 in their Women's Premier League (WPL) match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on Monday.

The duo initially stabilized the innings before accelerating the scoring rate, culminating in a crucial 93-run collaboration. In a thrilling finish, Deepti Sharma unleashed a flurry of runs in the last over, scoring 15 runs off the final six deliveries, which included three boundaries.

After winning the toss, RCB chose to bowl first. UP Warriorz had a shaky beginning, managing only 21 runs in the first four overs with Meg Lanning and Harleen Deol at the crease.

RCB's bowlers maintained a disciplined line and length, prompting Harleen to take risks, which ultimately led to her dismissal as she caught out by Lauren Bell.

By the end of the power-play, Warriorz had a modest score of 36-1, with Phoebe Litchfield and Meg Lanning batting. Following the power-play, RCB intensified their bowling attack, claiming four wickets in just eight balls, leaving Warriorz reeling at 50/5. Litchfield's contribution of 20 runs was a rare highlight amid the bowling onslaught.

However, Dottin and Deepti steadied the ship for Warriorz, skillfully rotating the strike and accumulating runs. They crossed the 100-run mark in the 16th over, with a crucial 50-run partnership for the sixth wicket that shifted momentum back to Warriorz after a dismal collapse.

At 100/5 after the 16th over, UP Warriorz found themselves in a precarious position, but Dottin and Deepti accelerated in the final four overs, amassing 43 runs off just 24 balls. Their explosive performance lifted UP Warriorz to a commendable total of 143 at the conclusion of their innings, with Deepti leading the scoring with 45 runs and Dottin contributing 40.
