Chahar's Transition to Mumbai Indians

New Delhi [India] - As the Mumbai Indians (MI) prepare for their upcoming match against the Delhi Capitals (DC), pacer Deepak Chahar shared insights about his recent move to MI after a significant tenure with the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Chahar expressed that he is adapting well to his new environment.

DC is currently on a winning streak and aims to secure their fifth consecutive victory, hoping to maintain their lead at the top of the points table. In contrast, MI has struggled, winning only one of their five matches, placing them in eighth position. This match will mark DC's first appearance at their home ground, the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

During his time with CSK from 2018 to 2024, Chahar contributed to three IPL championships in 2018, 2021, and 2023, taking 76 wickets in 76 games with an impressive average of 27.71 and best bowling figures of 4/13.

In a pre-match press conference, Chahar stated, "It's been a while, and I feel I'm transitioning well. Our goal is to win from the very first game. There's no need to panic if we lose a couple of matches; we must stay optimistic about our chances in the tournament."

He acknowledged that some matches have slipped away due to minor mistakes but emphasized that both the batting and bowling units are performing well, indicating that they have the capability to turn their fortunes around.

Addressing his injury struggles over the past few years, Chahar remarked, "Injuries have been a part of my journey for the last 2-3 years. As a fast bowler, my approach is different. I don't dwell on it too much. Doubting oneself can lead to issues."

Chahar expressed confidence in his abilities, stating, "I always believe in my potential to improve. Right now, I feel good and no longer feel pressured because I trust myself."

He also mentioned his camaraderie with fellow Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah, noting that they have experienced similar back injuries. "Jassi and I share a great understanding. It's crucial to take care of our bodies during challenging times," he added.

Chahar concluded by highlighting the importance of team support, saying, "Every player has a unique relationship with their body, and moral support within the team is vital. Staying strong-minded is key. Jassi's performance against RCB was impressive, especially after a long break. His confidence and execution were remarkable."
