David Warner Faces Drink Driving Charges in Sydney
David Warner Charged with Drink Driving
Former Australian cricket captain David Warner has landed in trouble after being charged with drink driving on Tuesday in Maroubra, Sydney. The New South Wales police apprehended Warner during a routine breath test, which indicated that his blood alcohol content was 0.104, significantly above the legal limit. Following the incident, authorities confirmed that Warner was formally charged and taken into custody.
Reports from a local media outlet suggest that Warner admitted to consuming three glasses of wine at a friend's residence prior to attempting to drive home. He has been summoned to appear in court next month. According to the police statement, "At approximately 5:30 PM on Sunday, April 5, 2026, officers were conducting stationary random breath tests on Malabar Road, Maroubra. A vehicle was observed stopping short of the testing area and parking. Officers from the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command approached the driver, a 39-year-old male, and conducted roadside testing, which yielded a positive result."
"He was subsequently arrested and taken to Maroubra Police Station, where a second test confirmed a reading of 0.104. The individual received a Field Court Attendance Notice for driving with a middle-range PCA and is expected to appear before the Downing Centre Local Court on Thursday, May 7, 2026."
Impact on PSL Participation
Will David Warner Continue in PSL?
Currently, David Warner is captaining the Karachi Kings in the PSL. He had taken a short leave from the tournament to attend to family matters, but this incident may lead the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to reconsider future leave requests. Despite the situation, Warner is expected to participate in the remaining matches of the tournament. So far, he has played three games for the Karachi Kings, accumulating 93 runs, including a half-century. Although Warner has retired from international cricket, he continues to engage in franchise cricket.
