Dangerous Pitch Halts West Indies Championship Match
Match Abandoned Due to Safety Concerns
A match in the West Indies Championship between Leeward Islands and Trinidad and Tobago was called off due to unsafe pitch conditions at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium. The decision came after a delivery from West Indies bowler Jayden Seales struck Jeremiah Louis of Leeward Islands on the back of the head, causing him significant pain. He was later taken to the hospital but is now reported to be stable. Prior to this incident, Seales had an impressive performance, claiming all seven wickets that fell, leaving Leeward Islands with a total of 140 runs.
According to a statement from Cricket West Indies (CWI), the second match of the series has been officially abandoned due to the hazardous pitch conditions.

Play was suspended during the first session of the third day after the pitch began to show erratic behavior, raising serious safety concerns for the players. Jeremiah Louis was hit while batting and received immediate medical attention before being taken to the hospital for a concussion assessment.
No Change In Final Venue
The CWI stated that the match referee made the decision to abandon the game after determining that the pitch could not be made safe without giving an unfair advantage. They confirmed that the tournament final will still take place at the scheduled venue, with efforts underway to ensure a safe playing surface.
Furthermore, CWI announced that no matches will occur at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium until the Championship Final, which is set for May 17–20, and that all necessary resources will be utilized to prepare a safe and competitive pitch for that event.
