Cristiano Ronaldo's Enduring Legacy

Lisbon [Portugal], June 3: Ricardo, a former goalkeeper for Portugal, has praised Cristiano Ronaldo, stating that while the 41-year-old's speed may have diminished, he remains a formidable presence on the field, always posing a threat to opponents.

Having achieved remarkable success across various leagues and secured international titles such as the UEFA Euro and the Nations League, Ronaldo is set to make his sixth appearance at the FIFA World Cup. Despite his illustrious career, the ultimate prize of the World Cup has eluded him. His confidence is bolstered by a successful season with Al Nassr in the Saudi Pro League, where he helped his team clinch the title.

In an interview with a Portuguese media outlet, Ricardo, who played alongside a young Ronaldo during the 2006 FIFA World Cup, emphasized that the football icon's dedication and passion remain unchanged. Although his speed has decreased from '200 km/h to 195 km/h', his commitment to the game is still evident.

Ricardo remarked, 'While he may not reach the same speeds as before, the essence of his game remains intact. The dedication, concern for teammates, and passion are still there. As long as he maintains his physical, technical, and mental attributes, Cristiano is a relentless force, and danger is always present when he is on the pitch.'

Transitioning from a peer to a coach, Ricardo finds it intriguing to manage Ronaldo, noting that their relationship remains genuine and straightforward. 'We often communicate as colleagues, and there are no pretenses between us. We hold each other to high standards in training, rest, and nutrition, and Cristiano consistently pushes himself beyond the norm.'

As Portugal gears up for the World Cup, they will face Chile on June 6 and Nigeria on June 10 in friendly matches, before kicking off their World Cup journey against Congo on June 17, followed by a match against Uzbekistan on June 23, and concluding the group stage against Colombia on June 27.
