Tributes Pour In for Pahalgam Attack Victims
New Delhi, April 23: Renowned Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar and former captain Sourav Ganguly have shared their sorrow over the tragic loss of life resulting from the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.
Tendulkar expressed his shock and sadness through a post on his official social media account, stating, "I am shocked and deeply saddened by the tragic attacks on innocent people in Pahalgam. The affected families must be going through an unimaginable ordeal – India and the world stand united with them at this dark hour, as we mourn the loss of lives and pray for justice."
Similarly, Sourav Ganguly, the former President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), shared his condolences, stating, "My thoughts and prayers are with the families who lost their lives in Pahalgam. Severe action needs to be taken against the culprits by the Government of India; none should be spared."
Earlier, Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited the families of the victims outside the Police Control Room in Srinagar, paying tribute to those lost in the attack. He laid a wreath in a solemn ceremony, reflecting the collective grief felt across the Kashmir Valley and the nation.
Family members, visibly distraught, were seen expressing their anguish to the Home Minister, highlighting the profound impact of this tragedy.
In New Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi convened a meeting with key officials, including External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, shortly after returning from Saudi Arabia, to discuss the implications of the attack.
In a show of solidarity with the victims' families, political parties and traders' unions in the region have called for a complete shutdown across the Kashmir valley today.
