Kidnapping Incident Sparks Outrage

Pakistani sports journalist Sanaullah Khan has reached out to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz following the abduction of his brother in Lahore. Currently residing in Australia, Sanaullah shared a video on social media platform X, detailing the distressing event and appealing for assistance from the Pakistani government. Although the details remain unverified, social media users have suggested that Sanaullah's brother was taken due to his criticisms of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman and interior minister Mohsin Naqvi, particularly regarding a controversial project that involved demolishing numerous homes.

The Capital Development Authority (CDA), acting under the Interior Ministry's orders, has been conducting extensive demolitions to eliminate what they classify as illegal encroachments in Islamabad. Naqvi's vision includes transforming these areas into upscale, commercial developments reminiscent of "Manhattan-Shanghai" to attract investment. Fans speculate that Sanaullah's brother was kidnapped for questioning Naqvi's actions. Allegedly, Sanaullah himself faced targeting from the Pakistan army after inviting Vikrant Gupta to the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, prompting his relocation to Australia.

In a previous video, Vikrant confirmed that Sanaullah faced a ban from the PCB for interviewing Mohammad Hafeez, who also criticized Mohsin Naqvi, indicating a strained relationship between the two.

Mohsin Naqvi's Controversial Tenure

Mohsin Naqvi Has Turned Pakistan Cricket Into A Circus

Mohsin Naqvi is no stranger to controversy. In a past video, former Prime Minister Imran Khan alleged that Naqvi returned 35 lakh to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in connection with a corruption investigation back in 2008. Furthermore, many fans and former cricketers have pointed fingers at Naqvi for the ongoing decline of Pakistan cricket, citing favoritism within the team that has resulted in subpar performances.

Since assuming leadership in 2024, Naqvi has made several perplexing decisions. During the T20 World Cup 2024, he brought back retired players Imad Wasim and Mohammad Amir, a move that surprised many. Following the World Cup, the PCB dropped Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan from the T20I squad. This decision might have been justified if the focus was on nurturing younger talent, but the continuous changes have left Pakistan's team in disarray, lacking stability. The same instability is evident in the ODI and Test teams. The coaching staff, including Gary Kirsten and Jason Gillespie, also departed from Pakistan cricket due to excessive interference from management. Naqvi's mismanagement during the Asia Cup 2025 and his rift with the BCCI have further isolated the PCB.
