Pakistan Boxing Federation Faces Criticism Again

The Pakistan Boxing Federation (PBF) is once more in the spotlight following the disappearance of boxer Qudratullah from the team hotel after the Commonwealth Games held in Glasgow. This incident is not an isolated case, as the PBF has faced scrutiny in the past for similar occurrences during major international competitions.

According to a trusted source affiliated with the Pakistan Olympic Association, Qudratullah vanished after competing in his weight category at the Commonwealth Games. Remarkably, he managed to leave despite the fact that his passport was retained by the team manager.

This isn't the first time such an incident has occurred; during the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, two Pakistani boxers, Suleman Baloch and Nazeerullah Khan, also went missing, even though their passports were in the possession of the head of the contingent.

Additionally, at the World Olympic Qualifiers in Italy in 2024, Asian gold medalist Zohaib Rasheed was involved in a scandal where he stole his roommate's foreign currency and valuables before disappearing in the town of Busto Arsizio.

The 36-member Pakistani team returned from Glasgow with only one bronze medal, which was secured by female boxer Fatima Zehra.
