Celebrating Chikitha Taniparthi's Triumph

Aichi-Nagoya, Japan - On October 3, Nita Ambani, the founder and chairperson of the Reliance Foundation, praised archer Chikitha Taniparthi for her remarkable achievements at the Asian Games 2026, where she secured two groundbreaking gold medals in compound archery.


Chikitha was a key member of the Indian women's compound archery team, alongside Jyothi Vennam and Prithika Pradeep. They triumphed over China with a score of 238-234 in the finals, not only winning gold but also equaling the world record. Additionally, Chikitha and Sahil Jadhav earned a spot for the mixed team event at the Los Angeles Olympics 2028 by defeating South Korea in the gold medal match.


In a heartfelt video message, Nita Ambani expressed her admiration, stating, "You make all girls so proud. You are going to be an inspiration for so many girls in our country and around the world."



India's archery team had an outstanding performance overall, achieving five gold medals, two silver medals, and one bronze, matching the success of the 2022 Hangzhou campaign, which was India's best in archery history.


In a remarkable day for Indian sports at the Asian Games, the country secured gold medals in men's hockey, T20 cricket, wrestling, golf, and archery, culminating in a total medal count of 85, which includes 21 gold, 27 silver, and 37 bronze medals. This marks India's second-best performance at the Asian Games, following the record-breaking 2022 edition where they won 106 medals, including 28 golds.


The men's hockey team concluded the day with a resounding 5-1 victory over Malaysia, successfully defending their Asian Games title and securing a spot in the 2028 Olympics.


Captain Harmanpreet Singh played a pivotal role, scoring two goals as the team triumphed over Malaysia. He netted goals in the 11th and 57th minutes, while Jugraj Singh, Hardik Singh, and Shilanand Lakra also contributed to the scoreline. Malaysia's only goal was scored by Shello Silverius in the 14th minute.
