Chennai Super Kings Deal with Injury Setback

Chennai Super Kings, the five-time IPL champions, have encountered a significant setback as Australian fast bowler Nathan Ellis has been sidelined due to a hamstring injury, as confirmed by a franchise representative on Thursday.

The 31-year-old was anticipated to lead the bowling lineup, particularly with the absence of Sri Lankan pacer Matheesha Pathirana, who has joined the Kolkata Knight Riders.

"Yes, he is out. We have not yet decided on the replacement," a CSK official stated.

Ellis, who has claimed 19 wickets in 17 IPL appearances, was acquired by CSK for ₹2 crore during the 2025 mega auction after spending four seasons with the Punjab Kings and was retained for the 2026 season.

As of now, CSK has not announced a replacement for Ellis.

The team, led by Ruturaj Gaikwad, is set to kick off their season against the Rajasthan Royals on March 30 in Guwahati.
